I was born and raised in Beijing, China, but educated in the North American education system. There was a period during my time in Canada when I struggled with my identity. I didn't know whether to introduce myself as Claire, a name that I've adopted when I was thirteen and is closely associated with my teenage, character-building years, or 昊 (pronounced as "hao"), the name my parents gave me when I was born.
I've now learned to embrace both sides of myself and came to appreciate the privileges I enjoy when I swiftly switch between two languages.
I'm now studying architecture at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. When I'm not in the studio doing work, I enjoy rock climbing, cooking and sunset hunting.
